This workshop aims to introduce students to sustainable material alternatives and natural dyeing.
All of our online workshops are recorded, and, with the purchase of a seat in the class, you have access to the recording(s) between workshop sessions and for 45 days after the workshop ends.

We will explore various biomaterials, their applications in diverse disciplines, and techniques for coloring and shaping them. Students will learn to fabricate bioplastics and biocompounds for a range of uses.

When: June 6 & 13, 2025
11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Cost: 145.00 US dollars.
Workshop Outline:
1st Class:
- Introduction between participants and teacher.
- PowerPoint presentation: about biomaterials (recipes, ingredients, colouring, etc.), examples of artists who use them in their practice.
- Live demonstration of bioplastics base recipes and colour samples.
During the Week, students will fabricate materials and have them ready for the following class.
2nd Class:
- Sharing session of the materials created.
- Live demonstration of biocompound base recipes, shaping and colouring samples.
- PowerPoint presentation: problem solving.

About Lara Sturzenbaum:
Born in Río Gallegos, Argentina, Laura began her journey into jewelry very young, starting with beadwork when she was twelve. She honed her skills over the years and integrated semi-precious stones and metals into her works. In 2022, she completed a BFA in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing in Halifax, Canada. Inspired by her upbringing in Patagonia, Lara combines traditional techniques with unconventional materials, including biomaterials.
