7 July 2026 / Jewellery Feedback Session: Refining Your Finish with GC&DC

Receive personalised feedback on a finished piece of jewellery in this practical session delivered in partnership with the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council. Find out how you can support emerging jewellers and silversmiths by volunteering as a mentor in this online information session. The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Business Mentoring Programme connects experienced industry professionals with early-career makers for up to 12 months of one-to-one support.
During the session, participants will learn how the mentoring programme operates, how mentors are matched with mentees and what areas of expertise are most valuable to those taking part. The session also outlines the expected time commitment and opportunities to share knowledge across areas such as business planning, marketing, finance and operations.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about contributing to the development of the next generation of jewellery and silversmithing businesses.

Build on existing pearl stringing skills in this specialist course focusing on the construction of multi-strand pearl necklaces. Led by Anja Moehler, the workshop explores the techniques required to create balanced, professional multi-strand designs.
Participants will learn how to manage tension across multiple strands, align pearls accurately and assemble clasps and findings suitable for more complex pieces. Demonstrations are combined with practical exercises, allowing makers to develop confidence while working on increasingly sophisticated designs.

Develop engraving skills using modern air-powered tools in this two-day course with goldsmith and engraver Harry Forster-Stringer. Designed for intermediate makers, the course introduces techniques for achieving precise, controlled cuts while improving speed and efficiency.
Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to set up and use air engraving equipment, transfer designs onto metal and create a range of cuts and finishes. The course also explores tool preparation, including sharpening and shaping gravers to achieve clean, accurate results.

The course covers wire preparation, twisting, soldering and the construction of filigree elements, combining demonstrations with hands-on making. Participants will develop control and accuracy while learning how to create detailed patterns and structures using minimal material.
Suitable for makers with some workshop experience, the course provides an introduction to one of jewellery’s oldest decorative techniques and explores ways of incorporating filigree into contemporary practice.
