Bio
Ana Calbucci graduated in Architecture and Design at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Jewelry got into her life as a meaningful interplay of emotion and imagination, bringing together all the universe of her architecture and design experience. Her work was shown in national and international fairs and exhibitions. She currently works in her studio in São Paulo, where she develops several techniques for the composition of the series that materialize, manually, her experiences through the body adornment.Statement
My artistic production is always linked to who I am - a woman, from South America, with European ancestors, who lives in one of the largest cities of the world, in a country with enormous social and racial inequalities. This is the country with the largest equatorial rainforest on Earth. A forest that is being devastated under our eyes. So as a Brazilian poet says, I am a true “walking metamorphosis” in this cauldron of complexities that I live. Sometimes my work is very intimate and very personal, and sometimes it overflows in a social and ecological questioning inherent to this universe that I belong to.CV
