The book accompanies the correspondent solo show Ruby Gold by Karl Fritsch at Galerie Zink Waldkirchen in September 2020 and is published together with arnoldsche Art Publishers.
Jewelry artist Karl Fritsch (* 1963 Sonthofen, Germany, lives and works in Wellington, New Zealand) belongs to the international Avant-Garde in the field of artistic jewelry. Being trained as a goldsmith but approaching his objects more as a contemporary artist, he is renowned for his special treatment of materials and forms and for his small daring sculptural works that disregard all conventions of traditional jewelry.
The brutal beauty of his works appears mostly in the details, and the tension of crudity and precision makes the difference and each piece outstanding – Ruby Gold is celebrating these details in the works by Karl Fritsch. Each of his rings is an individual and unique piece of art, thought and originated like a sculpture on its own.
