. The artist does by no means aim to simply contrast exuberant pomp with modest elements. Rather, she addresses issues of affluence, overabundance, and resource exploitation in a contemporary stance. When she elevates supposedly inferior, broken, or discarded, she acts allegorically in terms of a new aesthetic quality of recycling that can be accompanied by ethical and economic impulses. It might come as a surprise to invoke the field of discourse of the Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe here, who has repeatedly spoken of the concept of “care & repair”: attention to everyday objects and the common course of their repair.

Intro
Margit Jäschke delights her audience with her very unique “poetry of things.” The title of her publication is thus also symbolic of her oeuvre: Kairos is the Greek god of the fortuitous moment, who can only be caught fleetingly by his forelock.
Margit Jäschke (1962) lives and works as an independent artist in Halle (Saale). It was here in the 1980s that she studied jewelry at the art school at Burg Giebichenstein. Her works—jewelry, drawings, and objects—celebrate the special moment of inspiration, the origin of all creativity.

It is this precious moment that Margit Jäschke seizes and inspires her to create impressive works. Discover this renowned artist’s multifaceted oeuvre, which transcends the demarcations between jewelry, painting, and sculpture in her subtle characteristic style.

With further contributions by Patti Bleicher and Olga Zobel.
