Intro
Would you like to win $5,000 and get the chance to exhibit your work at SOFA New York? Apply to Emerging Artist 2011 - find out how here!
This is the twelfth year that Art Jewelry Forum (AJF) will be providing the Emerging Artist Award of $5,000 to a contemporary jewelry artist.

The purpose of the award is to acknowledge promise, innovation, and individuality in the work of an emerging jewelry artist, and to help advance the artist’s career.

The Art Jewelry Forum, founded in 1997, is a non-profit organization with the mission to advocate the field of contemporary art jewelry by promoting education, appreciation, and support for contemporary art jewelry. The award was established in 1999 and its first recipient, Yeon-Mi Keong, received the award at the 2000 Conference of the Society of North American Goldsmiths.

The competition is open to makers of wearable art jewelry who:
• have completed their academic/professional training,
• have been out of school for one year or more,
• and whose submitted work must have been unsupervised; work from BFA or MFA shows may not be submitted.

Beginning with this year’s award, artists who have had a solo exhibit in a gallery or museum may also apply.

Jurors for the 2011 competition are:
Perry A. Price, Assistant Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton MA; Marion Fulk, long-standing member of AJF and a collector of contemporary jewelry; and Agnes Larsson, jewelry artist and recipient of the AJF's 2010 Award.

AJF will be providing a cash award of $5,000 to the winner.
