Selected for the 2010 Italian Design Index: GianCarlo Montebello.
Artist list
GianCarlo Montebello
The ADI Design Index is the annual selection of the finest of Italian design. GianCarlo Montebello was selected with earrings SOFTHNESS.
The ADI Permanent Design Observatory brings together some 200 critics and experts, who work in Regional Committees, Thematic Committees and the Final Selection Committee. All products are eligible for inclusion in the Index, for which they are divided into the categories of design for living, for environment, for the individual, design of materials, service design, visual design, exhibition design, corporate research and publishing projects. In each case, the designer and the producer are also identified, together with the product. The products published in the annual issues of the index are understood to be the preliminary selections for the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, which is presented once every three years by and international jury.
The innovative characteristics of SOFTHNESS earrings lie mainly in their original decorative presence, achieved through the movement and changing shape of the earring when worn and subjected to the movements of the wearer. As such, the earrings dance and after their shape with every slight oscillation. They have and oval structure in yellow gold with a C-section and an edge strip in stainless steel mesh. A stainless steel elastic spiral joins the perimeter strip to the supporting structure in gold; the spiral is inserted into a series of rings, creating an elastic belt that fits into the gold structure.
