Since 1965, the Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst e.V. and the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau have been organizing the Silver Triennale International to promote contemporary silversmithing.
The competition promotes new design ideas for silverware and objects. Through national and international presentations, the Silver Triennale has become a globally recognized exhibition series.
The exhibition of the 21st Silver Triennale International 2025 shows unusual silver objects whose design and production testify to precision craftsmanship and artistic sophistication. On display are works that offer a stimulating field of tension between utility object and artistic object. Excellently designed utensils stand alongside surprising, intriguing objects that illustrate the diversity of silver applications. What they all have in common is the deliberate combination of form, surface design and intention, resulting in objects with a strong character and high quality. Both renowned designers and up-and-coming artists submitted their work to the main competition or the competition to promote young talent.
The expert jury included: Beate Leonards, silversmith from Lübeck, Wim Nys, curator at the DIVA Museum Antwerp, and Karen Pontoppidan, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. They awarded eight prizes with a total value of 20,000 euros. There were a total of 137 applications with 195 works from 21 countries, of which 59 applications with 67 works from 15 countries were accepted. These figures show the enticing appeal of competition in the 21st Silver Triennial International 2025.
The bilingual catalogue (German/English) published by Arnoldsche Art Publishers, Stuttgart, contains an accompanying text and illustrations of the award-winning works and all the entries selected for the exhibition. It can be purchased at the Goldschmiedehaus for €25.
The exhibition, publication and award ceremony are made possible by the kind support of Mannheimer Versicherung, Robbe & Berking, the Lions Club Hanau, the Ebbe Weiss-Weingart estate, Mrs. Rank and the City of Hanau.
Dates:
Sunday, 30. March 2025 - 0:00 to Monday, 15. June 2026 - 23:45
