Artist list

Attai Chen
Chen’s work, his brooches and necklaces, are also the result of a process in which chance and spontaneity are both welcome elements. A process which is also divided in stages. First he arranges his material, recycled paper, into a kind of collage from which he then cuts fragments which provide the ‘raw’ material for constructing three-dimensional forms. The finished pieces are then coated with resin for strength and durability.
The emotion Chen feels when creating a form is a stronger guiding force than the visual aspect. In his work he strives to follow and represent the cycles of nature. And despite these being static objects, this intention gives them the vitality of a snapshot in time – tangible yet transitory.
