“INACHE” is an online gallery created by two jewelry artists from Saint-Petersburg: Irina Latkina and Victoria Kataeva in 2018. INACHE shows works of Russian and Russian-speaking artists from all over the world, putting them in a well-curated Instagram feed and thus creating a national context in the field that until recently did not abound with Russian artists.

This is how the curators explain the choice of subject for the exhibition (“Brooches”) – “Why would we dedicate an exhibition to brooches? On one hand, we think that this kind of jewelry is most underrated in Russia (While The New York Times prints an article called “The Brooch is Back, Baby”, our compatriots stay under the impression that brooches belong only with grandmas). On the other hand, brooches have the immense potential for creative self-expression: their shapes and sizes much less depend on human physiology than that of earrings or rings.”

The exhibition, though lasting only one day, will present works by 16 artists from different parts of Russia, many of the works created specifically for the occasion. All of the artists will be present during the event, chatting with the visitors, getting to know each other, and explaining their works.
