Intro
Sayumi Yokouchi continues her quest for the ethereal and elegant in jewelry forms at her new exhibition at Jewelers'Werk Galerie. The pieces, mostly brooches and pendants, are light, delicate and innovative and seem to use air as a medium as well as copper wire, silver and gold. They reach out and enclose space and define the body as well as the space nearby. / Ellen Reiben

Thinking about simplicity in both materials and techniques resulted in this journey. Using various types of wires and playing with the natural tendency of wire itself - forming, bending, stretching and connecting them as flexible line making tools for my three-dimensional drawings. I'm fascinated by such continuous lines when they transform into new forms and functions.  Simplicity becomes a strategic tool for process of making to comfort my own intrinsic complexities. / Sayumi Yokouchi
