The inspiration for this exhibition started already in the mid-1990s when Peter Vermandere strolled past the famous bookstalls alongside the Seine. There, he found a black-and-white photograph of a man and a child, draped with paper flower garlands. Thus began the search for photographs in which jewellery played a starring role. Peter even bought an entire archive of American newspaper photos! These old jewellery photos and their captions are given a new life as inspiration for actual jewellery: Pictureware.
