"Frames" is a series of exhibitions inspired by the Chinese tradition of displaying small craft works on special shelves or stands at home. The first of the three planed exhibitions has already taken place in Beijing.
Artist list
Attai Chen, Dana Hakim, Amitai Kav, Hadas Levin
In traditional China, people used to display small craft works – sometimes referred to as “curios” – on special shelves or stands at home. They enjoyed looking at them, touching the materials and the traces of refined handwork. Such “curio” shelves played a major role in home design. Froots & Nogart resumes this tradition in its new exhibition titled: “Frames”.
Here the jewelry works combine with the shelves to produce unique and original art works. The jewelry is to be purchased together with the frame, like a gorgeous painting in a spectacular frame.
The concept of “Frames” will result in a series of exhibitions, the first three of which have been planned and organized by Froots & Nogart for Beijing (June 2015),Singapore (July 2015) and Taiwan (December 2015). Each of these events will feature different art works. The “Frames” series of events will combine cutting-edge jewelry art with space design. The frames or shelves employed will be an integral part of an artistic whole.
The first exhibition will open on June 19th, at Lu Ang Art Space, Beijing. Lu Ang, a Chinese benefactor of many western artists, is the main sponsor of this series of exhibitions.
