​"The Chileans… we are sad", used to say the Chilean filmmaker Raoul Ruiz. This Chilean sadness is the starting point of this work.
 
It is a collection of 30 pieces of contemporary jewelry made with diverse metals and Quinchamalí's black clay.
For those who are not familiarized with that kind of clay is an ancestral technique carried out by generations in a small location at the south of Chile. A 100 % handmade process.
The pieces acquire their shape from the imaginary symbol of a “tear chest”, and their texts and designs are born of the crossing between the resistance of Quinchamalí´s tradition and the political resistance; evoked in Ana Gonzalez de Recabarren's figure, an emblematic fighter of the human rights in Chile and whose words are also part of this collection in an audio-visual statement that accompanies it.
This “Tear chests” that keep - or at least they try to keep - these tears, are the elements that evoke this world loaded with oblivion, silent and latent fight. They are a symbol of how I see the soul of Chile. They are chests’ born from the ground.
 
They are fight: from the crafts, and from the search of justice.
