It's part of the OFF Madrid Design Festival programming. There are 6 contemporary plastic artists and 6 contemporary jewellers involved in this exhibition. Six pairs of creators focus on the concept of identity from the special interest that arouses the relationship between creative processes and production in the work of art.
Artist list
Paul Adie, Carlos Aires, Gimena Caram, Pepe Carretero, Carlos Cartaxo, Gabriela Cohn, Ana H. del Amo, Jorge Manilla, Sandra Pampín, Ruth Quirce, Estela Sáez, Sandra Val
For this meeting we have gathered six couples of contemporary creators with a clear objective; focus the concept of identity from the special interest that arouses the relationship between creative processes and production technicians of the artwork. In this group of artists, physical conditions are recognized that reveal their intention and definition in the field of arts, their manual dexterity and aesthetic consistency. These artists coincide in a sample and creation space, Studio Squina, a place where contemporary artistic jewellery is worked on, whose intention on the part of the management is to promote the analysis and reflection of a series of main contents, such as the use of materials and techniques and the study of design and contemporary art, as well as its dissemination.
This collective exhibition has been structured as dialogues, presented two by two; Carlos Aires / Paul Adie, play with mediating elements of messages, formulate a small visual repertoire that moves between the iconography and the sign. Carlos Cartaxo / Estela Sáez are identified more, by the own three-dimensional character of their pieces, with the new generations of constructivist artists. Sandra Val / Jorge Manilla, his enigmatic works are the product of a long research process with diverse materials. The works of both have a great emotional charge, but without forgetting the idea of tactility, a very important concept in the work of both creators. Ruth Quirce / Sandra Pampín dialogue from abstraction. His works, delicate and thorough, each in its scale, face the creation of an illusory space that moves between the experience of architecture, sculpture and design. Ana H. del Amo / Gimena Caram have agreed on the idea of transforming pre-existing wooden elements through their plastic creation into results that have to do with the idea of repetition, modular or fractal. Finally, Pepe Carretero / Gabriela Cohn talk about their interesting colour study and their approach to the representation of the forms of nature. In the case of Cohn, from a more synthesized view. This exhibition is part of the international Madrid Design Festival 2020 and they propose a dynamic and open dialogue, whose objective is to present to the viewer various ways of interpretation, development and knowledge of design and visual arts.
