Mari Ishikawa
Nothing that has appeared in this world can escape its ultimate destiny: to disappear. Even memory, though anchoring for the time the afterimages of all these in the endless flow of the ages, is no exception. Thus it is hardly surprising that memory and disappearance had fascinated.
I try to resist this vanishing and keep the memories.

Mari Ishikawa

In this exhibition, Mari Ishikawa presents four series of works that translate the themes of remembrance and memory in the most various ways. These are "Landscape", "Memory", "The Tag", and "Once upon a time". "Landscape" - a remembrance of decaying utility buildings that are being overgrown by plants, undergoing a metamorphosis. All that remains from the original state is what is being remembered. "Memory" is a direct reference to time, which, for everybody, is finite and uncontrollable and determines for itself what is remembered and what is forgotten. "The Tag" - the transformation of memory to the sphere of electronics and its susceptibility to manipulation and destruction. "Once upon a time" is a series which promises golden prospects into other spaces and other fates that we observe as voyeurs.
