In August 5th, the exhibition Ensaio de Imprecisões (Assays of Imprecisions) from Brazilian artist Mirla Fernandes will be opened at Espaço Cultural Casa do Lago, Campinas, Brazil.

Fernandes will be exhibiting a series of works in which she has investigated the line - a formal common element between drawing and jewelry - to reaffirm her artistic practice which occurs by the act of transcoding and incorporating various artistic languages simultaneously. Fernandes understands drawing as an activity intrinsically linked to body movement, to the expressive gesture. Jewel is to her, more than an ornament, an object with body scale that establishes a relational situation between the experiencer and the beholder.

The series of works also incorporates the philosophy of Aikido, the martial art that permeates her understanding of life and creative process since 2004: kan (accepting the unexpected during the process and dealing with it), kokyu (integrating the act of breathing) and aiki (harmonizing with the matter and interacting with the other).
