Lee Eugean Gallery is pleased to announce exhibition ‘Sagabowol” (思家步月), a group exhibition featuring works by 20 young craft artists with generous supported by the Pureun Cultural Foundation, which has long supported such artists with the aim of promoting Korean metal crafts.
Artist list
Minjung Cho, Sungho Cho, Jaewook Choi, Sangdeok Han, Shin Hyejin, Gavy Jo, Heejoo Kim, Hyewon Kim, Shinrueong Kim, Sooyeon Kim, Yong Joo Kim, Seulgi Kwon, Choonsun Moon, Eunjoo Noh, Serin Oh, Jieun Park, Joo Hyung Park, Jungeun Park, Healim Shin, Sangji Yun
The title of the exhibition is from the line Sa-Ga-Bo-Wol Cheong-So-Rip (思家步月 淸宵立) of the poem Gan-Woon-Bo-Wol (看雲步月: Watching the Clouds and Pacing in Moonlight), which was written by Du Fu (710-770), a Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty. 思家步月 淸宵立 means Longing for home, I pace in moonlight and stand in the clear night. The exhibition encompasses works that have the philosophical implications of a ‘house’ as an entity that shelters people over a long period of time, accompanying a large part of human life.
Exhibition visitors will find unique craftworks embodying memories and images of each artist, made of various techniques and materials such as metal, fibre, and wood. As Lee Eugean Gallery has a history of being a home for living. Sagabowol (思家步月) suggest to shed light on the functional aspects of craftworks as ornaments that are familiar to our lives as well as on the aesthetic value of the artworks themselves, which, we believe, will renew and expand our understanding of art jewelry.
The exhibition is Supported by Pureun Cultural Foundation.
