Intro
Jewels have strong symbolic value that demonstrates the power of its bearer. But a jewel also has the power to gain influence over one who wears it. We all are subject to someone’s authority, but in our kingdoms at heart we can make decisions according to our own conscience.

Jewels are powerful instruments. They can reflect and shape a person’s identity simultaneously. They have strong symbolic value that demonstrates the power of its bearer. But a jewel also has the power to gain influence over one who wears it. We all are subject to someone’s authority, but in our kingdoms at heart we can make decisions according to our own conscience.

The jewels are worn close to the body and with time they tend to merge with us and become part of our personalities. A jewel can create a bond between two personalities that have found one another. When the expressions “I hold him/her in my heart”, “heart-breaking” and “broken hearts” are coupled with Veenre’s jewel-hearts, we can see the latters sophistication and ambivalence. His series of mostly wooden hearts expresses the beauty and fragility of human bonds. As Veenre himself has encircled his message: “We all come to this world alone and leave it in solitude, but during the time given to us we try to find friends, kindred spirits and love”.
