Intro
When humans first crafted tools, the seeds of civilization sprouted, and a new distance between humanity and nature began to emerge. Nature perpetually sustains and reproduces itself, whereas human-made objects are often endowed with the mission of efficiency and consumption, frequently losing their value after brief use.

tastError is a project undertaken jointly by Shuang Yue and Ikki Mao. Drawing inspiration from nature's way of being —such as insect movement and spread of plant seed—we have combined renewable materials like fruit husks with recycled materials such as metal components from pre-owned furniture and tools.   Through replacement and reconstruction, we have created a set of "erroneous" tableware. Each piece was independently completed by one of us, yet through continuous communication and exchange of ideas, they form a cohesive whole that echoes each other while maintaining individual characteristics.

These tableware items are difficult to use, and hence they "trip" people in their habitual actions, allowing people to briefly detach from the fast-paced daily routine and reconnect with their bodies, food, and imagination.

Working under the name "ERROR:(", our creations resemble tiny bugs within the vast system of modern society: clumsy and out of place, yet offering new possibilities. To us, error is not failure, but a crack for freedom. Through continuous trial and error in craftsmanship, our work carries humanity's eternal inquiry and sincere response to the relationship between civilization and nature.
