(...) It is remarkable that in the work of Terhi Tolvanen the hand of man is always visible without causing discord. She shows that through attention and care nature and culture together can rise to a new high. (...)

Terhi Tolvanen
Over the years nature and man's influence on it, have become the main subject of Terhi Tolvanen's jewellery. Her work often celebrates the beauty of growth and inflorescence. Many of these pieces originate from fragments of actual branches and rootstock. The freakishness of this material, en in consequence of nature itself, gives the jewellery its tension and sturdy eloquence. Tolvanen's contribution lies in her unflagging attention to detail, technical refinement and understanding of the practical demands of jewellery.
It is remarkable that in the work of Terhi Tolvanen the hand of man is always visible without causing discord. She shows that through attention and care nature and culture together can rise to a new high. The poetry of her jewellery provides the most convincing plea.
