Therese Hilbert
A characteristic of Therese Hilbert's work in recent years is their hollow shape. Like the brooches, depicted here in actual size, with their small, protruding apertures resembling the independently moving eyes of a troll or robot. Or inviting us in, with a generous welcome. Jugs and jars are a familiar metaphor for man's physical and psychological presence. These functional, elegant silver objects combine their strong, concrete shape with hidden, mysterious content. They are imbued with the thoughts of those who wear and view them, with memories, desire and hope.
