The international exhibition The Transparent Breath returns to Venice for its fourth edition, bringing a unique event dedicated to contemporary glass jewelry. The city of Venice is world-renowned for its thousand-year tradition of glassmaking, which dates back to the 7th century B.C. This exhibition aims to foster dialogue and promote the inclusion of contemporary glass jewelry within Venice’s rich historical and cultural context. The showcase will highlight more than 50 exquisite glass ornaments in a new prestigious venue: the Fondazione Querini Stampalia. This new partnership with the Libreria Giovanni by Edizioni Tlon allows the exhibition to be presented in the evocative Sala Wonder Q, a cultural landmark in Venice's historic center.
“We are proud to present The Transparent Breath in such a historically and architecturally significant space. Sala Wonder Q provides the ideal environment to showcase these extraordinary pieces, creating a dialogue between contemporary glass jewelry and centuries of artistic heritage,” - says curator Eleonora Varotto.
The Venice Glass Week
The exhibition is a key component of The Venice Glass Week 2025, the international festival of the city, dedicated to the glass art, scheduled from September 13th to 21st. The festival is promoted by the municipal city of Venice with others important organisations as Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, LE STANZE DEL VETRO - Fondazione Giorgio Cini, the istituto Veneto di scienze, lettere e arti and il Consorzio Promovetro Murano.
Jewelry on stage
Alexandra Mezo, from Ireland, creates necklaces that recall textile motifs and childhood memories. Eugènia Arnavat, from Spain, and Iveta Linde, from Latvia, explore the memories through organic shapes and vivid colours. From Croatia comes the artworks by Antonija Gospić and Jasminka Begić, which blend minimalism and living poetry. Hodaya Ben eliahu, from Israel, presents jewelry that seems to grow on bare skin. Mexico is represented by Susana Ramirez, Sarahy Ramirez Gonzalez and Andrea Medina Miranda, whose creations reflect spirituality, tradition and artisanal work, but also a strong contemporary tension. Javiera Yáñez Correas, from Argentina, builds narrative microcosms. From Canada, RISATO and David Yeshia, offer an experimental vision, merging conceptual design and traditional techniques. From Germany, Kristina Jurk and Celina Szelejewska-Pigulla work with texture and transparency, bringing to life artworks with fluidity and architectural details. Kitsch Kiosk from Amburg. Blanche Tilden from Australia, is famous for her modular jewels that unites industrial precision and handicrafts sensibility. Nastia Paulovich from Russia, explores the glass as an instrument to reflect emotions and interior landscapes. Huang Xiaozhe, active in Italy, combines the Murano tradition with contemporary design, while Estelle Melissa Burton from the United Kingdom, creates poetic thoughts about light and time. Deirdre Maine, based in France, transforms salvaged wine bottle glass into contemporary jewelry that elevates waste into cultural and aesthetic value.
The artists are brought together thanks to one thing, the glass witch nature is, both delicate and sturdy, and transforms a jewel into a starshow of colours, a narrative of the artist’s memories and dreams…
