An exhibition including installations, objects and jewellery, by the Hungarian artists Ildikó Dánfalvi, Veronika Fabian, Réka Lörincz and Flóra Vági. The exhibition is a collaboration between PLATINA, Kinga Zobel/Gallery Biró in Munich and the Embassy of Hungary in Stockholm. In conjunction to the exhibition and with support by Estrid Ericsons Stiftelse, there will be talks and discussion before the opening. Kinga Zobel and the artists will introduce the artists work. Topics as value and artistic quality are on the agenda.
Artist list
Ildikó Dánfalvi, Veronika Fabian, Réka Lörincz, Flóra Vági
Ildikó Dánfalvi was born as one of twins. This fact has influenced her to explore how the deep bond between identical, non-identical and siamese twins shape their physical and emotional condition. The work presented in the exhibition is reminiscent of human organs which exist and function as a dependent pair, they appear symmetrical but are in fact different.
Veronika Fabian explores the question of identity through her work with chains. Her intention is to allow the chain to escape or, in other words, to reinterpret its expected purpose. The original assumption regarding chains is that they often are subservient to the main jewel. Therefore, she transforms ordinary chains, still respecting their original values but enabling them to form their own pattern and achieve jewellery status on their own. The collection Chains for an average woman is based on the notion of a woman's relationship to self-identity, chained as it is to the female personas of our time.
Réka Lőrincz's work leads to thought paths of value. To value what we have around is tricky and the systems behind valuation hard to understand. Jewellery art is a unique medium to illustrate this. The artists cross-border examinations and illustrations of our society reorganize function, highlight the hidden and help us along the way, make the invisible to become visible and the false to become reality.
Flóra Vági works in a language without words. The verbal explanations become secondary. She says that there are things difficult to describe as search, discover, transformation, surprises…things that she applies to her work and important for the receiver of the expressions. When the transformed and processed material speaks, the intimate whispers become meaningful.
