Intro
Visible things have opposite or hidden sides. While some allow easy access and are seen by looking back or lifting up, others are only visible or exposed by staring or observing, or are realized through the medium of language. Questions related to these actions are an effective and illuminating way to elicit stories in visual work.

The Wall Project began with an ambiguous word: “façade”. This refers both to the hidden side (fake, mask...) and to the most prominent aspect (front, appearance...); it enables a direct but paradoxical explanation and a static but dynamic form of expression.

Each artist interprets the various meanings of the façade in their own way and embodies them as jewellery. In addition, they present their own words so that viewers can interpret and explore them.

This shows how the medium of jewellery, whose use—in a simplistic common sense—is defined by appearance, is in fact created from the other, hidden side and is revealed through internal form and word. At the same time, the process of hiding unnecessary elements is paradoxically included here, in order to fully acknowledge the entire form of the work.

The hidden relationship that exists between the visible and the invisible provides a private answer to the question of narrative, and to the truths contained within the well-crafted exterior.
