. An interior expresses your identity and can provide support and comfort. Jewellery does the same for me.
.
. One wears the body, the other is worn by the body. In your interior you live, in a fixed place; with jewellery, thanks to wearing it, you take just that (along) with you. Furniture may be bigger, but a jewel is always present.
.
. In this project, I looked for the formal connections between the two worlds. The chair embraces my neck, the armrests are supported by my ears, the carpet finds a place on my chest, the lamp rests on my arms. With my works, I explore the boundaries between carrying and being carried. I begin to become part of my interior myself?
.
. Your interior reflects your identity and can offer you support and comfort. For me, it is important to be able to take these feelings with you, so that the jewellery becomes an extension of your sense of home.. Marthe Wauters

Being artful ánd thinking critically is what the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp is about. Our academic bachelor and master programmes in visual arts offer a variety of specialisations ranging from Sculpture, Photography, Graphic Design, In Situ, Jewellery Design, Costume Design, Fashion, Painting and Printmaking & Drawing. With refined drawing skills, an inspiring theoretical framework and space for interdisciplinary exploration, you will develop your personal artistic vision and practice. We are committed to exploring your talents and activating your potential.

Jewellery Design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp offers a healthy balance between artistic studio practice, specific and general theory subjects and drawing. A team of experienced and professional artists and designers provides the necessary guidance and supports the student in the development of his/her personal artistic practice.

Considerable attention and time are devoted to the technical skills and practical insights needed for the métier. Technological knowledge, knowledge of metals, gemstones and other materials, jewellery history and 3D computer drawing are essential components of the multifaceted programme. Curiosity and imagination are encouraged, as are research skills, concept development and self-reflection.

Study visits, workshops, projects, lectures and supervision by (international) guest lecturers play an important role in this. Research methodology, art history and art theory provide the necessary theoretical context.
