Society of North American Goldsmiths Call for Entries for the 2017 Exhibition in Motion Unmasked: Conceal and Reveal in New Orleans May 27th, 2017.
The 2017 Exhibition in Motion takes place on May 27th at the SNAG conference “Nexus” in New Orleans. The event will be extended to include a cocktail reception and heavy hors d’oeuvres, and music, followed by a dance party. After the runway presentation there will be an opportunity for the audience to interact with the work on the models and meet the artists who created the pieces. A print brochure and online exhibition will accompany the event.
Special guest jurors will be announced shortly! Please visit the Website for more information.
About SNAG:
Founded in 1969, SNAG is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance jewelry and metalsmithing by inspiring creativity, encouraging education, and fostering community. SNAG envisions a diverse jewelry and metals community engaging in thoughtful conversation and critical discourse while preserving tradition and embracing innovation. SNAG publishes award winning Metalsmith magazine, holds conferences, exhibitions, and a wide range of programming to elevate and promote the work and careers of its members in the field of jewelry and metals.
Accepting drawings and design concepts as well as images of completed pieces. You DO NOT have to have your piece completed to enter! Applications due January 9th, 2017.
For SNAG’s 2017 Exhibition in Motion we are looking for large-scale wearable pieces that incorporate an element of transformation. The wearer must be able to perform the transformation on the runway with little to no assistance and be as smooth as possible. Building on the success of 2016, we are looking for large-scale work that will stand out on the runway - think in feet not inches!
Partners, small groups and class proposals are encouraged.
SNAG membership is required to participate.
For groups of two or more, at least one of the group members needs to be a SNAG member.
Special guest jurors will be announced shortly! Please visit the Website for more information.
