The School is now seeking to appoint one new enthusiastic full-time lecturer to join our friendly and experienced teaching team and contribute to the continued successes and achievements of the School of Jewellery at home and abroad within the Faculty of Art, Design and Media.
The School of Jewellery is the largest in Europe, with unrivalled facilities and expertise across this diverse specialist sector.

Based in the heart of Birmingham’s thriving Jewellery Quarter since 1890 the school has achieved the highest national and global reputation across its PhD, MA ,BA, BSC and HND courses.The School is now seeking to appoint a new and enthusiastic full-time lecturer to join our friendly and experienced teaching team and contribute to the continued successes and achievements of the School of Jewellery at home and abroad within the Faculty of Art, Design and Media.

About the role
The successful applicant will teach primarily on our MA and Post-Graduate Diploma courses, as well as contributing to other teaching activities across the school as required.
Your teaching activities will be further enhanced by your contribution to research, enterprise and scholarship. You will provide pastoral support to students as a Personal Tutor and will have the opportunity to lead modules and develop project content within them as well as contribute to a rich culture of research.

About you
We are seeking a dynamic individual with a recognized personal profile as a designer maker and practitioner, desirable at international level. You will be a creative problem solver with a passion for working across a range of materials and a deep sense of material understanding and critical awareness.
An accomplished practioner in your field you will able to demonstrate a clear knowledge of the studio culture and an understanding and appreciation of the history and contemporary standing of this specialist subject.

Previous academic +/or industry experience, a Master’s degree/ PhD or other teaching qualifications are desirable for this post.

Excellent communication, organizational and networking skills are necessary to enhance graduate opportunities throughout the school. Applicants should be willing to undertake work and training across the faculty and participate in collaborative projects for the University.

The ability to work within a team and to develop new course materials, competent IT skills and knowledge of online learning resources are all essential qualities that we are seeking.

Salary: £35,101 to £38,153 per annum, Permanent.
