Birmingham City University is offering a position as Senior Lecturer in Jewellery/Course Leader for the School of Jewellery Department with an international research profile, demonstrating challenging concepts, innovation and breadth of knowledge would be appropriate to a role of this status.

 
The School of Jewellery has global recognition as a centre of excellence in the specialist sector and the BA (Hons) Jewellery, Design & Related Products course is a highly sort after degree programme within its diverse portfolio.  We are seeking a senior lecturer to take responsibility for managing the course, the team of academics and the delivery of its broad curriculum. We’ll look to you to ensure an excellent student experience through the use of relevant and inspiring learning, teaching, support and assessment methods. Your teaching activities will be further enhanced by your contributions to research, enterprise and scholarship within your specialist field. An international research profile, demonstrating challenging concepts, innovation and breadth of knowledge would be appropriate to a role of this status.

You will have leadership and organisational skills to plan, review and develop the curriculum, ensuring it responds to the needs of the multicultural student body and reflects developments emerging within the creative sector.

You’ll also provide support and mentoring to individual students and will have responsibility for leading and delivering modules and managing projects. We’re looking for someone who can enthuse and engage students and colleagues while making a substantial contribution to the School of Jewellery as a whole. An experienced academic, designer and practitioner, you’ll have a good knowledge of the materials and processes associated with the experimental nature of the course. You’ll also take responsibility for recruitment and selection of students, foster links with other subject areas within the Faculty of Art, Design and Media to develop collaborative project opportunities and work with external bodies and companies to enhance graduate employment potential.

Salary: £38,917 to £46,480 per annum
