Chasing, a technique based on the plasticity of metals, has been used since ancient times. It reveals the flexible nature of the metal, which takes on volumes, reliefs and textures under the patient work of the hammers and stakes. Skilled craftsmen from all eras and all continents have taken advantage of the ductility of gold, silver, copper or iron to bring out various decorations and figures.
After a presentation on the history of chasing and its specificities, you will participate in a step-by-step elaboration of the necessary tools (punches). With the appropriate materials that will be provided and after some exercises to familiarize yourself with the gestures, you will be able to create, in copper, your own object/jewel. Great discoveries are guaranteed!
