Atelier en Route wants to stimulate jewellery artist and students of art academies by offering them a place to work in a different environment apart from their studio or school situation. The workshop is located in one of the stables on a former farmyard about 200km nordwest of Paris, 10km from the coast in the department Somme (Picardy, France).
Workshop
At Whitsun and during the summer Atelier en Route offers workshops organized by Willemijn de Greef & Marij Bekkers. This year Atelier en Route invites guest teachers Constanze Schreiber and Ineke Heerkens to extend the team. The workshop is equipped with workbenches and tools. There is a kiln for porcelain and clay. Next to creating, good food and communication are an important part of the experience.
Workshop (Whitsun) Constanze Schreiber & Marij Bekkers (1)
Marij Bekkers, www.marijbekkers.atelierenroute.nl
Marij was educated at Academie voor Schone Kunsten in St. Niklaas, Belgium.
She runs a B & B in France, where she has her studio and exhibits her work on regular bases.
Her jewellery is inspired on Nature. She looks at the details in the landscape for example the wet sand which remains when the tide has gone from high to low tide. She translates the structures, the repetitions into metal.
Constanze Schreiber, www.constanzeschreiber.com
Born 1977, Siegen, Germany, lives and works in Munich. Constanze Schreiber completed her degree at the Goldsmiths´ school in Pforzheim in Germany in the year 2000, before moving on to the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam to continue her studies, graduating in 2004. In her works she uses elements from jewellery history and translates them into a contemporary context. In the workshop we start working from an assignment that is connected to the area. Further on every participant can explore technical and creative new ground.
The teachers will guide you on a personal level. The participants will be encouraged to experiment.
