As the conversation around ethical making gains momentum, join us for an engaging panel discussion exploring the diverse and evolving approaches to sourcing gold responsibly.
Explore the ethics of gold sourcing in this dynamic panel discussion featuring experts from Fairtrade Gold, Fairmined Credits, SMO, and The Royal Mint.
Each speaker will deliver a sharp, 5-minute presentation introducing their approach. This will be followed by a panel discussion and an opportunity for you to ask questions and join in the discussion. At the beginning and close of the event, there will be the opportunity to network and talk to peers.
Date: 23 June 2025, 6 pm – 8 pm.
Type: Business Skills Training.
Price: £12 (includes a glass of wine or soft drink).

Speaker bios:
Jos Skeates
Jos Skeates is a goldsmith, sustainability advocate, and co-founder of award-winning jewellers E.C.One. A former Chair of the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council and a B Corp leader, Jos champions ethical making and sustainable business practices. With a Master’s in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability from Birkbeck, he brings academic and hands-on insight to jewellery's evolving role in social and environmental impact. His leadership helped E.C.One become the UK’s first B Corp-certified jewellery business.
Erin Kelly
Erin Kelly is a Business Engagement Officer at the Fairtrade Foundation, supporting gold licensees and advocacy partners across Fairtrade’s Gold Sourcing Programme. With a background in grassroots activism and a Master’s in Environment and Development, she works to ensure safe and sustainable livelihoods for mining communities. Erin is passionate about trade justice and supports ethical jewellery businesses in applying Fairtrade principles to their sourcing and storytelling.
Dominic Jones
Dominic Jones is Creative Director of 886 by The Royal Mint and a five-time winner of the BFC NEWGEN Award. Renowned for his bold and sustainable approach to jewellery, he has worked with brands including Fabergé, Gemfields, and Mugler. A World Land Trust ambassador, Dominic champions environmental responsibility in design. His work has been worn by icons such as Rihanna and David Bowie, and in 2022, he was named Perfect Magazine’s Jewellery Designer of the Year.
Charlie Betts
Charlie Betts is Managing Director of The Betts Group and co-founder of Single Mine Origin (SMO). As the ninth generation of his family to lead the business, he has extensive knowledge of refining and responsible sourcing. SMO was launched to provide fully traceable gold from large-scale mines that meet strict ethical standards. Charlie is deeply.
