Intro
(...) During this course you can expect a detailed explaination about three kind of settings. You learn to create every setting yourself and you learn how to make variations. (...)
Each of our workshops offers an extensive introduction to a specific
technique or method of design. You will be completely immersed into
the subject matter and will receive plenty of background information,
enabling you to continue working independently afterwards.

Some of the workshops are open to beginners, as no prior knowledge or
skill is acquired. In the advanced workshops specific techniques are
developed for which you already need to master the basic jewelry
techniques.

The studio works with 1 regular lecturer (Lotte De Mey) and several
visiting lecturers. All lecturers have several years of experience in
the subject matter that they teach and have proven both their artistic
and technical merits. With these standards we can offer you a unique
range of high quality workshops.

During this course you can expect a detailed explaination about these three kind of settings. You learn to create every setting yourself and you learn how to make variations, so you will be able to use different kind of stones.

There are so many different kind of stones and pearls (size, colour, price) that it is required to purchase your own material.

• For the bezel setting you can use a smooth stone as well as a cutted one in every geometrical shape (round, square, octagon, rectangle).

• For the pearl setting you need a round pearl.

• The claw setting is meant for irregular stones, they do require two flat sides (up and bottom).

Make sure to bring silverplate and -wire, thickness: 1 mm. Do you need some help to find the correct stones, don't hesitate to send an email to lotte.de.mey@gmail.com. Tip: stones used in rings should have a hardness 7.

You should be familiar with the basic techniques: soldering, sawing en filing to follow this course.
