About Julia Obermaier:
Julia Obermaier is a German-born artist trained in jewelry making, with a BFA in Gemstones and Jewellery and a MA in Advanced Design. Her work has been exhibited all over the world and was awarded for example with a special mention of the Loewe’s Craft Prize in 2022 and the Homo Faber Young Ambassador Award in 2024. “Gemstones are the force that is driving me in my creative work. On the one hand, it is the exploration of materiality and approaching the limits and secrets of stones. On the other hand, it is the semiotic charge, meaning and use of gemstones – especially of diamonds – in our society.
