Atelier en Route wants to stimulate jewellery artist and students of art academies by offering them a place to work in a different environment apart from their studio or school situation. This year Atelier en Route invites guest teachers Sanne de Vries and Ineke Heerkens to extend the team.

Workshop (Summer) Willemijn de Greef & Ineke Heerkens (2)
“You get what you see (and more)”

Willemijn de Greef and Ineke Heerkens both studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Willemijn de Greef www.willemijndegreef.nl
The jewellery pieces of Willemijn de Greef are big and monumental. In her work Willemijn researches the boundaries of wearability. Sometimes her work elopes to visual arts. Her work is exhibited in the context of art jewellery and bears in mind the human size. Willemijn forces the spectator to observe what she sees. She perceives things into detail as a jewellery maker does.

Guest teacher Ineke Heerkens www.inekeheerkens.nl takes photographs of the city’s landscape while cycling to her studio. Colourful plastic bags, carelessly thrown away are swept around by the wind. Captured by the camera at full cycling speed the trees and garbage fuse into new images. Ever since her graduation in 2001 Heerkens’ artistic research is about the translation of movement into material and form. An astute observer, she registers both the common and the accidental and narrates about it in her jewellery.

The teachers will guide you on a personal level. The participants will be encouraged to experiment and will be triggered by small assignments to define their own view on jewellery in material and form.
