The college aims to inspire creativity, champion traditional art and craft practices and advance the care of heritage objects.
West Dean College is internationally recognised for excellence in conservation, arts and design education with campuses in West Sussex and London. Studying here on one of our 600 short courses or for your degree or diploma could be life-changing.
Many alumni are working with collections and museums of international significance or pursuing their creative practice. You can expect exceptional facilities, talented tutors and small class sizes.
The College is in Sussex in the former home of Edward James; poet, artist, designer, and patron of the Surrealist Movement, and is an inspirational setting for study, creativity and innovation.
Conservation Courses:
Graduate Diploma Conservation Studies. 1 Academic year, full-time, specialising in:
FdA (Focus both on Making and Conservation).
School of Arts Courses:
Short Courses: West Dean College also offers over 600 creative short courses, including metalwork and jewellery.

Grant and Scholarship information:
There are several sources of funding open to students of West Dean College. Various scholarships and bursary pots are administered by the College and a number of other organisations will support students directly. There are also many opportunities for International Students looking for funding and support.

- MA Conservation Studies
Specialisms include; Books and Library Materials, Ceramics and Related Materials, Clocks and Related Objects, Furniture and Related Objects, and Metalwork.
- Master of Fine Art (MFA) Craft Practices
Two-year full-time masters course designed to support you to further advance your practical, theoretical and professional skills, through an emphasis on specialist studio practice.
- BA (Hons) Craft Practices
The course constitutes the final year of a BA (Hons) degree and is suitable for students who have successfully completed one of our Foundation Degree in Arts courses in Books and Binding, Clocks, Furniture, Metalwork or Musical Instruments.
