Bio
Abbi Marie has a BFA in Jewelry from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She works in silver and high karat gold using traditional hand fabrication and carving techniques. Whether it’s an eclipse of golden moths, or a leaf bug hiding in a wearable habitat, she strives to infuse a little bit of wonder into mundanity with her workStatement
I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world, by how it can feel very familiar but also very foreign to us. The almost alien anatomy of insects and seemingly infinite forms of flora feel as though they should be part of another realm, not overlooked as a part of our day to day lives. My work brings these creatures and habitats into the forefront. Through what often feels like a magical process, I transform sheet metal, wire, and blocks of wax into pieces that bring these menageries to life.- Mail:
