My goal is to provide a perspective on the changes caused by the interaction between the body and social tools, as well as the new social environment that is constantly iterating and we are closely in.

Bio
Lanxin Zhang is a digital and jewelry artist from Luzhou, a city in western China. She graduated from the School of Jewelry at Birmingham City University. She is interested in post-human transformation. Her work focuses on body and skin sculptures. Her recent series of works focuses on the relationship between the body and social activities. Zhang's working method is to combine digital media with traditional metal materials, and use non-traditional wearing methods to depict and capture the changes in the growth shape of organisms caused by social behavior.Statement
Deeply inspired by posthuman transformation and body sculpture, my jewelry works tell the changes of organisms under social activities and processes by reproducing body lines and shapes. In the latest series, I recorded the different postures of long-term use of mobile phones and the resulting hand stretching and fingertip abrasion. I used hard metal to replicate the shape and texture of the body, combined with my imagination of the future body evolution shape, to create a series of wearable body sculptures to strengthen the impression left on the body by this common social activity.
I came up with the idea of transforming the body marks caused by frequent use of communication tools into a piece of jewelry, and to give an image of this common social behavior. Transform the "mark" into a sign of social activities. My goal is to provide a perspective on the changes caused by the interaction between the body and social tools, as well as the new social environment that is constantly iterating and we are closely in.
