Marie Rimmen

Bio

Marie Rimmen (1989) is a trained goldsmith and has a bachelor’s degree in Accessory Design from Kolding School of Design. On a daily basis, she is part of a shared workshop and jewellery store, ‘Guldsmed Gl. Mønt 37’, which is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2019, the Danish Goldsmiths Guild awarded her with the Skt. Loye Award, and since she has participated in contemporary jewellery exhibitions, both national and international.

Statement

Marie Rimmen is a skilled craftsman. She is detail-oriented and likes to challenge herself by developing movable mechanisms. She often works with hollow forms, where she is particularly interested in the joining of the individual parts of the piece. Rimmen focuses on how the piece interacts with both the wearer and the viewers, and even though she is intrigued by constructed and industrial sites, she brings a sense of softness and spirit into her work.
