The ermines of the South Seas by Bruna Hauert

Necklace  /  ReadyMade   Playful   OnBody

On April 5th 1769, the Endeavour anchored in Matavai Bay in Tahiti under the command of Captain James Cook. In the excitement of it all, a small group of white ship rats sneaked on land unnoticed and quickly felt at home on this fertile island. Their countless offspring soon after crowned many a chieftain’s noble head and later went down in history as the ermines of the South Seas.
Made for the thematic exhibition in the South Seas.
