Petra Class
Born in Germany and based in San Francisco, Petra Class is celebrated for her refined, tactile approach to high-karat gold. Today, she creates alongside her son, Lucas, and daughter-in-law, Phoebe, extending the lineage of her art into a new generation. Their work rests at the intersection of ancient materiality and contemporary design—at once clear-eyed and lyrical. Over decades of practice, Class has shaped a distinctive visual language of line, grid, and color, where structure guides composition and gemstones shine with innate chroma, now evolving through a shared vision.

High-karat planes fuse around gemstones whose hues feel timeless—sea-glass aquamarines, electric tourmalines, cobalt lapis, and iridescent opals. For Class, gold is not mere adornment; it is skeleton and skin, a living framework that holds light in suspension.

Gold is a patient metal. It records every gesture. I think of each piece as a ledger of touch, the hammer's rhythm, the heat's breath, the small decisions that give a stone room to glow.

Highlights of the exhibition include new explorations of Class’s beloved “scribble” and “strata” vocabularies: hand-drawn lines transposed into three-dimensional gold, and bold graphic forms framing gems in her organic, sculptural style. The cadence is unmistakably hers: modern, intelligent, and deeply wearable.

Join us as Petra Class unveils a new body of work shimmering with high-karat gold, rare stones, and her unmistakable alchemy.
