Who or what are Extranalities, I hear the lone person who has had their head buried in the sand for the last ten years ask? Well, they are a gang of nine jewellery desperados who use active collaboration, making, thinking, exchange, drinking, discussion and argument as a vehicle to challenge their own individual jewellery practices. The collaborations aim to produce jewellery trinkets of wonder to entertain, amuse, inform and challenge the audiences of a world in need of all these things.

Lidija Kolovrat was asked to join Extranalities as their ‘joker’, a position that is reserved for a new collaborator whenever Extranalities embark on a new project and need to shake things up a bit.  

Lidija presented a challenge for Extranalities to make work that can enter her world and co-exist with the clothes she creates. She also wrote the following text as a starting point, muse and discussion point for the project.

We are people of the season, from the love of Demeter to Persephone, moving with rhythms that nature long ago put into motion. Even in darkness, underground, out of sight—nature is working. Seeds are our rituals. They are choices made with intention, small acts of faith in what could be. Inside each one is a living archive, a memory of what has been and a blueprint for what might come. A seed is a quiet promise to tomorrow. In times when so much feels uncertain, planting is a political act. To care for something growing is revolutionary. To save seeds is to save possibilities—futures we may never see but can still shape. Every future begins small, hidden, compressed, waiting for enough courage to break open.
