By presenting sketches alongside jewellery works, the exhibition seeks to visualise the process through which ideas are transformed into lines, and lines subsequently evolve into forms. Sketches are “another work” concealed behind the completed pieces; they record the artist’s way of observing the world and the trajectory of their thoughts. By tracing these “traces of the hand” that are rarely visible beyond the finished works, visitors are invited to share the origins of the artists’ inspirations and the intellectual processes they experienced throughout creation.

Communicating this “culture of thinking through drawing” also represents an expression of the creative spirit of Tokyo University of the Arts, where tradition and contemporary sensibility intersect and coexist. The linear thinking nurtured through drawing, together with the formal expressions engraved into metal, forms the core of this exhibition.

We hope that this exhibition will serve as a platform where creativity cultivated through the hands, eyes, and inner sensibilities can be exchanged and shared within an international context.
