Intro
In the series Still Life, she is looking at still life paintings as a metaphor of daily life and preserves the norm, which is precious but easily forgotten. She looks at the daily objects as a metaphor of the norm, especially vases or bottles that are used for preserving something precious like perfume, spice or poison.

Miki Asai
Miki Asai’s jewellery is inspired by and taking elements from things do exist without solid shapes as phenomenon. Those fleeting and changeable phenomenon portrays the nature of everything of the world. Her aesthetics and concept is strongly based on ‘Wabi-Sabi’ that finds beauty in impermanence, imperfection, transience and ephemerality. She aims to create jewellery that captures and preserves the momentary beauty to own the fragments of the fleeting world, life and everything.

Things are either devolving toward, or evolving from ‘nothingness.
Things are beautiful because they are fleeting.

/ Leonard Karen, Wabi-Sabi for artists, Designers, poets & Philosophers.
