Is a piece of jewellery an art form? Is a piece of wearable art equals to jewellery? Can a piece of art express the jewellery as a concept or it is not a piece of jewellery at all? Jewelleries are not only about wearability, design and physical value. Jewelleries may be objects with in-depth concepts and message in it. They may also be a concept which is transformed under various forms.
This exhibition tries to bring up some provocative thoughts, contrasts and similiaries in all the above. It brings up the concept of “jewellery” by way of the perceptions of the artists and jewellers and by way of how they transform this concept into their works. This exhibition is not about the actual jewellery pieces, but is about the relationship between jewelleries and the professional work of the artists. This gives rise to an opportunity of making dialogues and conversations between contemporary arts & contemporary jewelleries. This exhibition brings in 3 Hong Kong and 2 Australian contemporary artists as well as 5 Hong Kong and 4 Australian contemporary jewellers. All these artists and jewellers will be making and presenting their “jewelleries” in their own ways.
