Intro
I collect and map like a kind of contemporary archaeologist, in a constantly ongoing process. Letters, numbers, and symbols continuously emerge through the materials, are always present.
Everyday objects such as receipts, notes, instructional drawings, manuals, and rulers, form a kind of working archive in Kajsa Lindberg’s studio. Sorted, reshaped, and reassigned, they become integral elements in jewellery and art objects. It is an experimentation with codes, systems and rules. She is fascinated by invisible structures, the standardized, the measurable, the repetitive, that can control everyday life. Manuals are helpful guides, and collecting is a form of repetition that offers comfort.

"There are invented systems that simplify our lives. A meter is a meter, an A is an A. It happens I disrupt them. I make small shifts from the original function."

Collecting and visual repetition becomes a working method. It is a way to understand society while also subtly breaking its rules and guidelines. By elevating the overlooked and shifting the given, she imbues her objects with new meanings. Kajsa Lindberg invites new perspectives, offering us different tools to perceive the everyday, and to listen more closely to the quiet language that surrounds us.

Kajsa Lindberg is based in Stockholm. She recevied her Master from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2008.
