Hey!Jewel Studio presents Yanli Duan: Chapter One
Yanli Duan is a jewelry graduate from China Academy of Art, who has been recommended to MA jewelry course in 2012, for her outstanding achievements.
From the next September, she will go abroad to Politecnico di MILANO as an exchange student for half year.

In this personal exhibition, it is the first time to exhibit her works, which begin from the sophomore class to the first year of her MA. The series are Knitted Jewelry, My Childhood, Tibet Jewelry, Antique China jewelry and Chinese lacquer. She will also show her whole design journey, including inspiration, sketches, making process and final pieces. This is also a recording for the way that she explored in contemporary jewelry design.

From her series of works, it is easy to find that she emphasized on human body as a medium and exploring the potential from different categories of materials like paper, wood, fabric, antique China pieces and Chinese lacquer to challenge its endless limitation. She is on her way to looking for the unique jewelry language and express the thinking way between individual and society, tradition and contemporary. For designer, jewelry plays a role of calendar. It helps her recording life, describing the story and expressing her own thoughts. In her words, “Jewelry is already melting as part of my life.”
