‘Origin marks the beginning of a significant and exciting partnership for the Crafts Council and Somerset House Trust. I see this event as one of the highlights of our cultural programme, and look forward to developing our relationship with the Crafts Council far into the future.’

Activities

Springboard

A new exhibition for emerging craft talent. Forming part of Origin, Springboard is a curated area where 24 of the most exciting emerging makers will show and sell their work to the public for the first time.

Springboard is an opportunity for these makers, who are within one year of trading to explore the market and gain experience of showing at a major event. They have been selected by a panel of industry professionals, making this a highly selective showcase to promote the strongest new talent in the sector.

Craft Meets Aram

Exhibition of pieces from exhibitors at The London Craft Fair that will be held at contemporary furniture and design store, Aram, in association with the Somerset House event. Ten pieces, selected by Ruth Aram, will be displayed on iconic pieces of contemporary furniture to illustrate how crafts can complement furniture in a contemporary interior setting.

Wesley-Barrell Craft Awards

'Wesley-Barrell prides itself on being one of the few British companies in existence to both train and utilise traditional craftsmanship in the production of its furniture. The first ever Wesley-Barrell Craft Awards run in association with the Crafts Council were designed to recognise and celebrate the quality and breadth of home grown talent that exists today - bringing it to a wider public .'
Juliette Barrell, Marketing Director.
