The 3 jewellery artists are invited to speak about their works and professional practice.
Artist list
Tim Carson, Herman Hermsen, Peter Vermandere
Professor Herman Hermsen is an independent jewellery and product designer. He started his career in teaching in 1985 and has been professor of product and jewellery design at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf since 1992.
Tim Carson is jewellery maker and co-founder of Timothy Information Limited and is teaching at Middlesex University, London. Statement: "Under the initial seemingly nonsensical and abstract veneers of his work lurks a subtle commentary, observation and story telling with political sensibilities."
Jewellery artist Peter Vermandere about his work: "Matter is the starting point, but when creating everything happens simultaneously: idea, form, material ... It is expected that you can explain that, but I’d rather not disturb the mystery too much. I think matter can be very inspirational, in the sense of "what is this, where does it come from, how is it formed, what types exist, within which tradition was it developed or used... I find the process to be the most important, the result follows."
