Our next Thursday Talk with jewellery designer Tanel Veenre, which was scheduled for Thursday 3rd of March, will be rescheduled and combined with the lecture by fashion historian Nele Bernheim on Thursday 10th of March! That's right: two fascinating speakers, two exciting Thursday Talks! A warm welcome to join us for an inspiring evening.
Nele Bernheim is a joint PhD candidate in History at the University of Antwerp and Art Sciences at Ghent University, Belgium. Her dissertation is entitled “Norine Couture, Brussels: The Embodiment of the Belgian Avant-Garde, 1915-1952.” She lectures Fashion History at the École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre in Brussels. Starting from key examples of PXL-MAD’s 'A History of Jewellery' class, this lecture aims to explore western fashionable dress from c. 1400 to c. 1930.
Tanel Veenre is an Estonian jewellery artist and designer of a brand his own name. Tanel Veenre was born in Tallinn and grew up in a family of artists and musicians. He studied under professor Kadri Mälk at the Estonian Academy of Arts where he graduated in 2005 after having taken part in an exchange program in Gerrit Rietveld Academy.
Tanel Veenre has participated since 1994 in more than 200 events between, fairs, shows, art gallery exhibitions and fashion shows worldwide. Tanel Veenre has been working as a fashion photographer, journalist and editor. He has been giving lectures and workshops in Konstfack, China Academy of Art, Tainan National University of the Arts, Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, Oslo National Academy of the Arts and in many other institutions. From 2012 till 2016 he was a professor in the Estonian Academy of Arts. Tanel Veenre lives with passion and looks at life as a laboratory where everything is possible. Besides conceptual art jewellery he is focusing on building up his jewellery, fashion & lifestyle brand sold in more than 50 stores worldwide.
